Troubleshooting & Knowledge Base

1. Getting Started with Your Career Profile

CVBuilderKit is designed around a Career Profile First model. Rather than writing a resume from scratch every time, you enter your complete employment history, education, skills, projects, and contact info into your Master Profile.

• Adding entries: Tap Profile in the bottom tab bar to edit your contact info, work experiences, degrees, and skills.
• Profile Photos: You can choose a photo from your Photos library. The photo is saved locally and rendered only in templates that support it (like Modern).
• Multiple Profiles: In Settings > Manage Profiles, you can create distinct master profiles for different career tracks (e.g. "Software Engineering" vs "Product Management").

2. Tailoring Resumes & Override Protection

When you create a resume, it links back to your active Career Profile:

• Inherited Fields: By default, company names, dates, and descriptions inherit from your master profile. If you update your master profile, linked resumes reflect the updates automatically.
• Custom Overrides: If you customize a job description or summary for a specific company, that field is marked with an Overridden badge.
• Resetting Fields: To discard your custom text and revert back to the master profile's latest text, tap the field and select Reset to Master.
• Resume-Only Items: You can also add experiences or skills directly to an individual resume without adding them to your master profile.

3. Troubleshooting Apple iCloud Sync

CVBuilderKit syncs automatically between your personal Apple devices (e.g. your iPhone and iPad) using Apple's secure CloudKit private database.

If your devices appear not to be synchronizing, check the following:

1. Same Apple ID: Ensure all devices are signed into the exact same Apple ID in iOS Settings.
2. iCloud Drive Enabled: On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud and verify that iCloud Drive is turned ON.
3. Sync Status Indicator: Check the cloud icon in the top toolbar inside CVBuilderKit:
   • Green Cloud Checkmark: Synced successfully.
   • Orange Cloud Arrow: Local modifications are saving or uploading to iCloud.
   • Red Cloud Exclamation: Device is offline, or iCloud is currently unavailable.
4. Manual Sync: In CVBuilderKit, go to Settings > iCloud Sync and tap Sync Now to force a reconciliation pass.
5. Background Refresh: In iOS Settings > CVBuilderKit, ensure Background App Refresh is enabled so silent sync notifications can process updates.

4. PDF Export, Page Sizes & Printing

All resumes in CVBuilderKit are rendered as publication-grade vector PDFs using native Apple graphics frameworks:

• Page Formats: In the Resume Preview screen, use the paper size selector to switch between A4 (international standard) and US Letter (North America standard). Our layout engine automatically recalculates breaks to prevent awkward page splits.
• Sharing: Tap the Share button in the top toolbar to open the standard iOS Share Sheet. You can immediately send the PDF via Apple Mail, Messages, AirDrop to your Mac, save it to the Files app, or print via AirPrint.
• Accent Color Customization: In the Template Selector, tap any theme accent (Navy, Slate, Emerald, Royal Blue, Graphite) to personalize your resume styling.

5. ATS (Applicant Tracking System) Compatibility

Recruiters use Applicant Tracking Systems (Workday, Taleo, Greenhouse, Lever, iCIMS) that automatically parse resumes into plain text:

• CVBuilderKit resumes are 100% searchable vector text (CoreText), not flattened images or rasterized graphics.
• Fonts, headers, dates, and bullet lists follow standard reading order conventions.
• For conservative corporate, finance, or government roles, the Classic or Compact single-column templates provide the cleanest automated parsing.

6. Managing & Deleting Your Data

Because CVBuilderKit is a local-first application, you have absolute control over your records:

• Individual Resumes: Swipe left on any resume in the Resumes list and tap Delete.
• Complete Reset: To erase all profiles, resumes, and cached records, open CVBuilderKit, go to Settings > Data Management > Delete All Data. This immediately deletes local and CloudKit records.
• Uninstalling: Deleting the CVBuilderKit app from iOS permanently wipes local app sandbox data.
